Vista Bliss?

Postby sgdiii » Thu Jan 11, 2007 11:51 am

Anybody out there running Bliss under the new Microsoft Vista?

I have installed version 1.5.3, and the installation works just fine. However, when I try to run it, I get the following message...

".NET Framework Initialization Error: Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application."

I have both .NET 1.1 and .NET 3.0 installed on the machine... Any ideas?

Hi,

I have heard from other users who were running successfully on Vista. I don't know why you would be seeing this error if .NET 1.1 is installed. You might want to try reinstalling .NET 1.1, but that is just a guess.

Still no luck...

I have uninstalled and re-installed Bliss AND .NET 1.1. I have also disabled and re-enabled .NET 3.0 several times. Still, I get the same message. Maybe it's not looking for a .NET runtime, but something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,

Are you running Vista RC2 by chance? I have been looking around the web and have found this error turning up all over in Vista RC2.

No, I am running Vista RTM (Release To Manufacturing) version. I have since installed .NET 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0, but still no luck. I will keep trying!!!

Hi,

I am guessing wildly again, but based on some stuff I found on the web, I would try uninstalling .NET 1.0 and .NET 1.1 and .NET 3.0 and install only .NET 2.0.

It appears that 1.1 has a problem with Vista that 2.0 solves. I have never tested Bliss with 3.0 so I don't know if that works. By doing this we will be forcing the game to use 2.0, which should work.

Sorry that I don't have a better answer.
