jBliss can't edit action files on a Mac, after edits on Win7

Postby Honeys » Thu Dec 09, 2010 11:25 pm

I purchased the action editor, and copied a number of downloaded action files from our Mac to the Windows machine, and then spent a good deal of time playing w/ the actions, editing, and adding some new ones. All seemed fine on the Windows box (Windows 7, 64 bits, btw).

I then copied the action files back onto the Mac, but the Mac is generating Java errors anytime I try to load the edited files. There are several errors, but usually it's an invalid argument or a UUID that doesn't work (and appears to be null).

Any ideas? I really don't want to lose the edits I've made.

Hi,

Please send me the file that won't edit on a mac and I will see what is going on.

Do you have version 1.6 on both machines?

Thanks,

Don

Hi,

I got the action file you sent me and I am trying to see why this is happening.

Thanks

As long as it has been I doubt if anyone is still following this, but I have never been able to reproduce this bug.

If anyone has seen it, can you tell me the exact version of OS-X and the version of Java that you are using.

Thanks,

Don

Thanks for getting back to this Don!
OK - checked again tonight, and it's still happening.

Error message is on trying to open a downloaded action file; error is:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid UUID string:
(and then blank)

I downloaded 'additional higher actions.bjf', as the latest file to try.

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Mini (2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 gb of RAM)

Software updates from Apple are all current.
JavaVM is 13.8.0 (reported from the profiler)
But running 'java -version' is probably what you want - that's 1.6.0_33

Hi,

I have two Mac development machines. One is running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) and Java 1.6.0_33. This machine does not show the problem.
The other is an old PowerPC running OS X 10.4.2 and I have tried Java 1.4.2-50 and Java 1.5. This machine does not show the problem either.

Unfortunately I do not have a machine running OS X 10.6.

I am not sure where to go from here. It doesn't happen on the ancient machine and it doesn't happen on Lion. I am starting to suspect there may have been a Java implementation bug on OS-X 10.6. That would kind of make sense because the app was actually running under Rosetta (Power PC translator) in 10.6 on Intel hardware. In Lion Rosetta was eliminated and Java apps run as native Intel apps.

I have attached a copy of the JavaApplicationStub from OSX 10.7. I don't know for sure that this will even run, but if it does it MAY solve the problem we are seeing on 10.6 because it will cause the Java app to run as native Intel instad of translating from PowerPC.

You will need to perform the operation described in the following post:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1083#p3601

You can try it both the way it is written (getting the JavaApplicationStub from your own machine) or using the attached JavaApplicationStub. Please let me know if either one works.

Thanks,

Don
