Version 1.6.3 Problem on XP

Postby LXK8 » Fri Sep 06, 2013 8:45 am

I'm currently running a fully patched Windows XP system.
Bliss 1.6 ran fine.
I installed 1.6.3 which appears to install fine.
When I try to start 1.6.3, I get a blank Bliss window (the Bliss name & logo in the upper left corner. the windows itself is blank).
At this point, my PC totally locks up to the point I have to power cycle the PC.

I'd just reinstall 1.6 if I were you. I had similar problems with my xp unit so much that I did not instal 1.6.3 after trying and having 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 give me problems. Let me know if you have problems reinstalling I had to manually place some items - One thing for sure save your application data and all bjf files in both application data and in program files for bliss to a separate folder to reinstall your changes after you revert to 1.6.0 Then of course uninstall and delete your application data for the program. Then install 1.6.0 all the best. If you don't have your copy of 1.6 maybe Don will put it up again for you.

I did exactly that and 1.6.0 works just fine.
I'm dissappointed though since I really wanted to see what was new & enhanced.

I think the improvement was for mobile units with the action editor

Hi,

I have run 1.6.3 on about 12 systems now and I have not seen anything like what you are describing. That is a pretty serious crash if you have to power down the PC. I cannot think of any changes that have been made that could possibly cause something like that.

I am going to test this on a few older XP systems that I have access to and see if I can reproduce it anywhwere.

Thanks,

Don
