Clothing items

Postby D&M » Mon Jan 08, 2007 11:34 am

This seems to be a bug? Admittedly a bit obscure but thought you might like to know as it could be affecting a lot of actions.
Seems to be some problem in the game recognising what clothing is worn with respect to the settings in the "clothing items" tab in action editor

See attached action for an example.

The attached action not played if player wearing bra or corset or high heels in addition to say a skirt even though the action settings only require either a skirt or dress to be worn. Various other clothing items in addition to skirt do allow action to be played. Other clothing worn shouldn't matter should it really given these settings?
Peculiarly, a camisole worn at the same time allows the action so it doen't seem to be related to area of the body covered.
Getting rid of the "only one required" check box doesn't make any difference either.

Not sure whats going on!

The effect is potentially to render a lot of actions unplayable if they specify "clothing worn"?

D&M,

Thanks for an excellent bug report.

I have tracked this one down and can tell you somewhat what is going on. The problem is not caused by the Skirt being specified, it is caused by the "Bare below the waist temporarily" requirement.

When this is specified, the game checks everything the player is wearing from the waist down and sees if 1. it can be removed and 2. it can be replaced. Many articles of clothing such as Corsets, Bras, Nylon, Thigh Highs, etc. are marked as non-replacable. This is done because they are very hard to put back on, so the game never asks the player to put one of these items back on after it has been removed.

The bug here is two fold. First, when "from the waist down" is specified, the game is actually checking the whole body. So a bra or corset which is marked as non-replacable causes this problem. The other portion of the bug is that High Heels and shoes are marked as non-replacable. So these cause the problem also.

This is a complex problem to fix. The first part is easy, baring from the waist down shouldn't check on clothing on the upper half of the body. However, baring from the waist down should take into account shoes for some actions, but not for others. Obviously I need to rethink how this is specified.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks,

Don

Fantastic prompt response, as ever.
Spent ages trying to figure out what was going on !
I guess knowing how the game works in the first place, makes it a bit easier to track down :-)
Am pleased to know what causes the problem.
Makes sense to specify things as non-replaceable even if it does cause the odd glitch.

Thanks
