Hangs at startup

After a format @ reload of xp, re-installed bliss application which worked fine on this machine before reload. Now when i run the application
i just get the bliss game for lovers white box and it goes no further. If i hit Ctrl Alt Delete Bliss.exe is using 100% cpu but it never goes any further.
I am running Windows XP SP3
