I can't open Bliss anymore since updating my OS to Catalina 10.15.2 When I try to open a popup comes on and says "To open 'Bliss' you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime" When I try it says that version of Java can't be installed because I have a newer version of Java on my Mac. What can I do?

I just went through that this past weekend... I think the issue turned out to be that Catalina enforces security settings that prevent the installation, and my workaround was basically to override those settings.

I found someone wrote a script for this at MacRumors:

I don't know how to use that script, can you tell me how and did it work?

This method will allow you to installed Java 6, which I just did under Venture - Mac OS 13.2.1. Worked great after a little fiddling to learn how to use the Script Editor - but not hard.

Then, you have to direct Bliss to start using that version. That's also doable, see ... va-version

Note that the actually Bliss java file is buried inside what looks like ''. Right-click on that (on a Mac), and you can open it, then drill down into the sub-folders there. You'll eventually find 'Bliss.jar' which is the file you pass in this command (which I had to enter in Terminal):

/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.6.0 --exec java -jar (full path of the Bliss.jar - which is buried inside the '' folder).
